Andrew Maverick Taylor
So I was giving my friend some banter last weekend who owns a hobby store and also does commission builds. He was asked to build three Tamiya 1/32 P-51 Mustangs for a customer. Having cut some initial parts from my kit I challenged him to build his three in the time it took me to build my one. Bare in mind here that he wasn’t building the engines and only doing moderate detail unlike me who was using every bit of the kit plus an aftermarket resin propellor set and aftermarket decals. Also that he is a professional full time day job model builder and I’m a mere mortal man cave dweller with only the after work evenings to do my modelling. Here’s my result, an RNZAF 1 Squadron Territorial Air Force aircraft followed by the three my buddy built plus one built previously. Make for a nice collection of Mustangs. It turned out we finished all of these models within 12 hours of each other using late nights and early mornings. Subtle tactics tried to be used to slow each other up but to no success. The week was fully committed to trying to out do each other. Was a gruelling week but glad to have finished this beautiful kit. All of the mustangs built, including mine are off to new homes with happy customers. CaptainObvious
Really nice job Andrew! And you finished a 1/32 kit in ONE week??? Incredible effort. Sounds like you and your friend had a great time doing it too.
Slartibartfast
Did Down Under Mustangs not use cuffed Hamilton Standards? I thought that was a Korean Conflict thing. Or does your model depict a Korean Conflict aircraft?

We had 30 of them but by the time they arrived, the war was just about finished and so they went into storage. We only had them for about 7 years.

I was still working on mine not long before the photos were taken.
