1/48 Napalm canisters used in the Vietnam war?

Recommended Posts

BLU-1 (look like early F-4 Travel pods)

BLU-10 (look like skinny Mk 77)

BLU-32 (again, look like skinny Mk 77)

Mk 77, these are the blunt looking silver canisters that everyone thinks of, there was also 5 Mods of these, another had a short rounded fairing on the front, and a long tapered fairing on the rear

Mk 79, these are the long red ones seen in A-1 and F-8 pictures,,,,,,they look like drop tanks with 4 rear fins

And others that some other people will post, I am sure.

I can tell you this: When I hit country in 12/67 the napalm dump in Chu Lai (Marine air base) used a mixture of about everything. Used go right past it two or three times a week. When it was blown to bits during Tet, we saw them only use the blunt nose bombs. The survivors became showers for units in the field (big pointed ones). In Danang they kept using the pointed ones till mid summer (maybe later), but by the time the monsoons came everything was the blunt nosed ones when dropped from jets.
