After their first flight at Kitty Hawk, the brothers realized that more experimentation and flying skills were required to make a real success of their design. They moved back to Daytona but due to the lack of wind and ground effect at Huffington field they invented the

 

catapult devise to help them get into the air. They also built the first aircraft hangar there and the first airport ( later to become the Wright-Patterson AFB.)

The shed was unique in that the aircraft was slid in sideways with the tail and nose removed.

The camera really distorts the image, I guarantee the reveal opening is square. The right side is the finished walnut planking and I am just starting the L/H side. Because the rest of the walls are grey  I thought that the viewing side should have a more finished look.
