picknpluck
A few quick updates: gear doors are painted and mounted and the Steel Beach vinyl intake covers. The TCS pod is also Steel Beach. I also removed the Sparrows from the glove pylons and filled the resultant gaps. The pylons still need some sanding and cleanup before they are ready for paint. Whiskey
How’s that TCS pod? I have to pick one up for mine as well.

Have a look at the Quickboost one, it's a little 'crisper' in the detailing. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/1094490-quickboost-qb-48-797-grumman-f-14a-f-14b-tomcat-chin-pod-with-ecm-tcs-equipment
picknpluck
Well, this was...um...unexpected. Who knew F-14s were tail sitters? Hmmm...it's fine with the wings out. Edited September 1, 2018 by picknpluck

I never really thought about it, but the wheel base is long enough, like a phantom where I would not have thought of nose weight. Just out of curiosity will it sit on the nose wheel if you swing the wings forward?
picknpluck
Yeah, I edited my post above. It does settle down with the wings out.
airmechaja
Yeah but it still looks really good with the wings forward. Camo is sweet.
phantom
Peel back the intake cover and toss a couple pennies in there. It will sit right.......Never seen that happen with a Tomcat before.

I'll give it a shot if I can find one at a decent price. I agree with phantom, throw some weight into the intakes since you've got them covered anyway.
picknpluck
Yup...weight in the intakes solved it... Not much to update tonight...a bit of detail painting, nothing more. About all I've got left is the glove pylons and a Sidewinder painted up as a CATM-9.

Parabat
Mmmm, Tomcat goodness! That looks ace, just wondering about that probe above and behind the '10', should that be on the stbd side, inbetween the ejection triangles? Whiskey
Damn that thing is looking good! I'm still trying to gather some extras before starting on mine, namely the NACA vent. Did you replace those vents on top of the fuselage with something or is that still the plastic cause they look surreal.
picknpluck
Thanks Whiskey! The vents on top Are kit plastic. I just hit it with Alclad Duraluminum.
