Scratch-building a 1/48 throttle/mixture/prop control for the HB F4U-4 Corsair kit..

Recommended Posts

I need some help and advice on how to go about scratch-building a 1/48 throttle/mixture/prop control for the HB F4U-4 Corsair kit (Since the kit does not have one).

I have never done this before so I would need some pointers.

Any and all help/advice is appreciated.

Hi Scott,

Iḿ building in 1/72v scale and made this throttles from plastic rod. The Corsair, pfff, has different levers. Mayby try flat lead wire. I have bought this stuff, in Holland, in my LHS.

Just do a google search and look good how it's build in real. Have fun.

Scott,

for the levers with the spherical tips you can use a tecnique I used many time.

First cut from an electrical wire of the right diameter a piece of copper wire, then using a lighter or a candle, put the copper perpendicular on the flame;now when the wire became

incandescent, you can notice that at the end of the wire the melted copper create a ball. All you need now is to cut at measure the wire and your lever(s) is done!
