I'll continue looking for the relevant shot as it shows part of the astrocompass gizmo under the glareshield porthole. Cheers Tony Looking at the photo as I type. The hard part is discerning the size and shape of the bulge itself. It looks like it (the bulge) drops off just in front of the dark panel fwd of the windscreen, per the Tom Johnson inflight photos. I have a lot of shots of the Ashland bird, but really needed a ladder to get at the darn Astrocompass (and bulge). I actually had a conversation with the curator, but was too polite to ask. Dammit. Mizar
can't make a better shot than this one due crappy smartphone camera https://imgur.com/a/OXSlCVO It's odd because the chord of the astro-compass equipped fairing is shorter than the other, the above portion is also flattened Plus the carpet monster scored a point against my EF-111 box, or the seller sent me a defective box without the nlg oleo strut 😕 Some more pictures of real things EF-111 with GPS antenna, note the dent and FB-111A with compass fairing also this http://www.f-111.net/models/antennas/index.htm Luigi Edited August 20, 2018 by Mizar
