scotthldr
I'm I right in thinking that the skids on the helo below are not available in any of the current and most likely the next -206 kit. The skids themselves are different (are they emergency flotation devices?), the skid supports seem to be beefed up as well. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d9/ES_511_Agusta_Bell_OH-58A_Jet_Ranger_II_of_3_TEAS_at_its_base..jpg This one appears to have standard skids and the supports are shorter, but still beefed up https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjo-JqxhJrdAhWsy4UKHVrtDykQjRx6BAgBEAU&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.helis.com%2Fdatabase%2Fmodelorg%2F691%2F&psig=AOvVaw2VqqJLiY-q5Yf-iSgPyxPG&ust=1535899086974199 This picture shows both styles side by side https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/fe/Two_Agusta_Bell_Jet_Ranger_IIs_in_the_hangar_at_Alexandria..jpg Any help appreciated. biggu
Well, there is a set that closely represents those pop up float skids in the old Italeri 1/48 scale OH-58 Kiowa kit #2624.................. actually that kit has all 3 types of skid gear, low skids, high skids, and what is a reasonable facsimile of the pop up float skids you are asking about............ I am assuming you are asking about 1/48 scale.......... also they may require a little more detailing, if one wants an accurate set, where the cross tubes join the skid gear it self, there is no detail it is flat ( on the TOP of the skid itself) the bottom has the correct angles so one would have to add the material to represent the actual pop up float bit, but they are good as is, and the cross tubes are the high skid gear type as well..... hope this helps... AirMedical
The 1/48th scale ESCI 206 Jet Ranger LAPD/Swiss Rescue kit had those skids. I which I could find two of those kits.
scotthldr
I think all the ESCI boxings came with the three skids as options. I wish I could find just the one kit.
GeejeeZ
You're right Scott: all Esci JetRangers/ OH-58A's came with the three landing gear types. A re- issue of the 1:48 Esci/ ERTL JetRanger-kit is on the Italeri catalogue for some time now but has not appeared yet...
Dutch
From the TH-57C Thread: ESCI kit includes Short regular skids as per Wikipedia TH-57C photo. Snow shoes for short skids as per wikipedia CH-139 photo. Floats as per this photo. And thick square cross section skids as per this photo of DHL 206 or this photo of G-AXMM. But NOT floatation bags as per this AirTeams photo of G-PERZ.
snake36bravo
The first link posted shows the early pop out flotation bags that mounted via screws the full length of the skids. Those obviously differ from the later flotation bag equipped skids for the 206. Kudos to Dutch for including the Long Ranger from the classic John Carpenter film The Thing 1982 showing the full floats. Here's a better image I scanned from an old Starlog.
