john53
I have a couple pictures of VA-196 and they have odd looking anti glare panels in front of the cockpit. The pilots side looks black and the B/N side looks gray. Also one protrudes further than the other. Never noticed this before.---John Edited September 16, 2018 by john53
ziggyfoos
They could vary in color (none, grey, or black), shape, and size. Some followed panel line, some went to radome joint corner, some went from bottom of canopy interestion, some went to a point. Some extended beyond onto the radome. I've never seen left or right side though being different colors. The upper radome hinge cover boot thing would look dark/black, not sure if that's what you're referring to. john53
I just looked in my walkaround book. It's an optical illusion, sort of.the one I saw is skinny, follows a panel line in front of the windscreen glass then curves in behind the refueling probe, it does this for both sides THEN there is another anti glare area in front of the refueling probe sticking out further than the wind screen ones. Weird, never noticed that before.---John
john53
Is that one in front of the refueling probe where the nose opens? That's why it's like that?---John
Finn
Here is one from the other side, also note the a/c at the left has a "full" anti glare panel even though it is the same squadron: Jari
