One thing you should know about U.S. national insignia: with only a few exceptions, the insignia is on the upper surface of the left wing and the lower surface of the right wing ONLY! This box art is incorrect with the insignia on the upper surface of both wings. That is wrong. Should be easy to fix.

Please take your time to get it right.

In my opinion, if you have a Monogram kit, just follow its shape which is already very accurate. Then improve landing gear wheel well, bomb bay details and some surface details such as panel lines and various soops/vents.

A standard load for the strategic mission was 4 B28RI nuclear weapons in the front of the bomb bay and either 2 or 4 ADM-20 "Quail" decoys in aft portion.  Both were mounted in "clips".

As has already been mentioned, if you're doing a tall tail B-52D then honestly look at the Monogram/Revell 1/72  kit!  For its age (50 years) its still a very good kit. I've built a few over the years and I am currently working on another. I hurriedly snapped a few pictures before heading out.

Some of Its short comings are...

1)  No bomb bay interior and poor landing gear and outrigger bay details (what you see below is all there is to the bomb bay and main wells...not much to say the least):

IMG_20180926_082631641.jpg

If you can add a full B-52D bomb bay interior and liven up the main wells then that would be great!

2) No tail gunners interior is provided, only a terrible looking gunner figure (no picture). I am adding a very basic interior (not much can be seen but something is better then what Monogram/Revell have provided... and with a clear gunners canopy you will be able to see enough to know that there is or isn't something in there):

IMG_20180926_083025248_2.jpg

3) Sparse cockpit interior (again, not much can be seen but you can see enough to warrant more effort then what Monogram/Revell have provided):

IMG_20180926_082800053_2.jpg

Note to the above photo: I added seats from an AMT B-52 to replace the terrible Monogram/Revell pilot blobs. Notice the old decals for instruments...they work but look nasty to me...oh well).

4) No overhead windows above the pilots seats (only molded on outlines). You can see the four window outlines in this photo:

IMG_20180926_083002974_2.jpg

5) And of course the raised panel lines (although they don't bother me myself).

There are some other nitpicky things but honestly if you folks can get the Monogram/Revell shape and outline done correct while fixing the kits short comings then you will have a winner! I'll buy at least  four as I love the tall tails (and I already have three Monogram/Revell BUFFS in the stash...I have a problem I think...).

Also, while were asking...if you could add bomb clips that would be great :

Adjust that nose profile to a straight line from the lower edge of the windscreen down to the tip of the radome.

Here is another example showing the straight line between windscreen and tip of the radome.

This particular airplane is a few minutes down the road, if you require any additional pictures I can help👍

IIRC they also left out the windows for the EWO too.

No I think Monogram/Revell got those windows Murph. Unless I am thinking of the wrong windows?

Don,

My mistake, that's them.  That makes it more baffling that they left out the ones over the pilots.

Agreed Murph. It's always made me wonder why they didn't mold those pilots overhead windows open like the others to allow for clear parts. I was told years ago that it was due to the molding technology of the day. I have no idea if that's correct or not. Still, for its age and even with its warts, its a nice and somewhat challenging kit to work on.

Don

To mold the overhead window(s) in the Monogram fuselage would require either  a slide mold technique for the fuselage half or a separate “roof” piece. Search on the phrase “draft angle” to see why...

While these aren't mine and some are grainy, they're some of the best B-52D walk around pics on the net because of the elevated vantage point.

If you need specific pictures of specific items let me know and I'll head down this week and take them.

Hey Modelcollect, as has been said here at least twice, get a Revell Monogram B-52 kit and use it for your overall shapes. It was first made in 1968 and is the most accurate shape B-52 out there. it is also only made as a D as far as I know.

If you are still using the fuselage centre section from the G kit, please correct the wing box, again you'll see the correct shape and position on the Revell/Monogram kit. please replace the cockpit seats. please correct the landing gear bays on all your B-52 kits. Check out the "Uncovering the Boeing B-52H" book for details of internal structures. I believe the interiors shapes are the same for all variants, only instruments will change. You have already seen the escape hatches on the D model is different. the escape hatches for the upper rear seats need to be moved forward compared to the G kit. Note the engines are angled upwards as are the drop tanks, again you will see this on the Monogram/Revell kit. Note tailplanes should have vortex generators top and bottom. Note shape of end of tail and tailplanes. G version looks too rounded. Please add tracks and correct detail to flap area in wings. please extend undercarriage legs, they are too short.

Watch this...

Please tell me, will Eduard be making PE sets for these kits?

In plan view the fuselage must be parallel all the way up to the cockpit side glazing. On the G model it tapers in more like a 707.

The box front says "Height 172mm". It should be taller than the G model which also states "Height 172mm"?
