Chriss7607
Since I mainly do Navy stuff I'm kind of out of my field on this one. Are there any photos of the P-47 'Tarheel Hal' with invasion stripes? The Fine Scale Modeler book, "American Fighters Over Europe " implies that it had them and that they were eventually removed. The Lone Star Flight Museum's rendition has them, but flying restorations are notorious for being inaccurate. I did a Google search but it mainly came up with models and the LSFM airplane. Anybody have something?
rpeck
Sorry no. 'Tarheel Hal' was a P-47D-30-RA which is a latter model P-47. They didn't get to combat not until 1945 maybe December 1944. By then no invasion stripes on the wings or fuselage were painted on new aircraft. Rick By that time all stripes were gone on the wing47D-30-RA
