Exgbuloader
Hello everyone, I am building an F-14A from VF-111 circa 1982 and was wondering if the live missiles around that time were the later gray color or much lighter or almost white. Thank you. Pat,
andrew.deboer
White for the Phoenix - it would be an AIM-54A.

Janissary
Did Phoenix-A ever have the grey/white mix of parts? All examples of mix parts I have seen are for the -C, but not the other way around.
Viper_944FW
I'll have to dig through my personal pics from the cruise and look @ AIM54s, I'll get back with you on this.
Viper_944FW
After reviewing my personal pics all the AIM54s our F-14As carried were painted white/offwhite.
Janissary
Thank you. That helps. I am building the Tamiya Tomcat, VF-142 circa '87. I intend to use the white/gray -7 and -9 on at least one of each, but was wondering if I could do that with the 54. Looks like those will be all white.

Yes, there were a some AIM-54A's with white/grey parts back in the mid 80's, we had a few on the Saratoga during the Desert Shield/Storm cruise.
GW8345
For the 1976/77 time frame, the AIM-9H would be the Sidewinder variant used by the F-14 community, the AIM-9L did not go into production until 1977 and it would be mid to late 77 before they "hit the deck".
