A few Soviet/Russian color questions

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Need sone help with a few things or a friendly steer to the right place for answers.

Anybody know if the Syrian MuG-29 and Angolan An-74 colors can be matched with AKAN paints?  Have been trying to figure out how to contact AKAN but it looks like I'll have to sign up for Facebook to get in touch! :-(

Any and all help appreciated,

Here's their website. They speak only Russian but seems they set up their page to use Google Translate. At least it is always translated by Google Translate when I open the page. There's an e-mail address, though I don't know if they will deal with anything not in Russian, but you could give it a try, or translate it into Russian using Google Translate. I don't know as I've never tried to contact them.

The specific camouflage schemes you mention are not currently part of the portfolio, so you'd need to study photos and eyeball a match and/or mix a shade yourself.

Duh, of course, you could just ask "Linden Hill". Don't know why I didn't think of that.

Thanks for the fast replies, Gents.  I will try to contact AKAN directly because I would like to go directly to the source to see if I can get some kind of definitive answers to a few color questions and possibly suggest some new colors (French Navy two-tone grays, foreign colors for Russian aircraft types, and maybe some general colors like for the MuG-31 canopy seal and cargo plane internal equipment and interiors.).

Cheers,

Oh, one last thing for Linden Hill,

I don't mind trying to figure out a shade or two and trying to mix them but a few things are against me in those endeavors; my 60 year-old eyes, different shades of color in different photos, and some of the AKAN paints don't have their example pictures up on the site yet.  So, I was trying to get some possible input from the experts who would have the info or the necessary direct access to the source(s).

I'll try to work out the language gap and see if I can get a bit more info before I commit to buying a lot of different colors that won't accomplish my goals.

Thanks again for the help,

O.K.,

Found a site called Dukmodell (Dukmodell.com) that has the paints listed numerically with color samples.  While it might not be perfect for my needs, it gets me MUCH closer to my goal and I can now buy just the individual paints needed.

Thanks All,

Linden Hill has been selling AKAN paints here in the USA for a number of years now. Very reliable and highly recommended.
