Atlas C1 ZM406 70 Squadron RAF

Recommended Posts

This is the Revell A400M 'Grizzly' kit but as an RAF example. Built almost OOB I updated the model with some features the operational aircraft has that the kit does not.

  • added airborne self-protection sensors on the wingtips
  • added additional antennas and drain masts on the lower fuselage
  • repositioned the ailerons, elevators and rudder in power off positions
  • added nano LEDs to the  cockpit and cargo bay

Decals were from the excellent Babibi sheet which included the 100th Anniversary tail markings for 70SQN and the later release kit with correct walkways and door outlines.

oh yeah - that's awesome mate!! Love the lighting too - it's great to see you took that leap and actually did it 🙂 BTW - I think that's meant to be Nano - not nana - but maybe it is meant to be nana and they're really old LED'S 😄 they only come on once they've had a cuppa and a nap

Those 2 aircraft of yours really dominate that table don't they? Are you going to bring them to Melb next year? I'd love to see them in the plastic

Thanks for posting these Ray

Thanks Si, I thought I had fixed the 'nana' typo, done now. As for the lighting, I switched the lights on at about 10:30am on Saturday for the display and at 3:30pm on Sunday when I picked it up they were still on! I was impressed with the very low power draw.

If I have enough room on the back seat they will be in Melbourne. I will have a few to contribute to the ACAM display (civil cargo aircraft) so I will have to pack creatively!

Another nice build Ray!

Never heard of that decal producer....

Thanks Ed, I got the sheet about 12 months ago, they are a Turkish company and have a website, though the A400 sheet is now OOP.
