Dave1089
Hi guys, I'm in the process of building Tamiya's F-14D as the VF-213 CAG jet during the last cruise. The overall paint is listed as Tamiya AS-16 but I can't find the direct FS number for this. My intention was to paint it flat gull grey but this may be a bit dark. Any ideas? Thanks Dave
Skull Leader
The CAG jet? or the Retro jet with the blue skunkstripe/tails? The retro-jet is what comes in the box, the jet was light gull grey. AS-16 is Tamiya's light gull grey approximation (there is no bottle form as I recall), 213's CAG jet was a bog-standard TPS paint scheme I think. Yes the retro jet with the blue detailing (Tamiya mention it as the CAG jet).
Skull Leader
That's Tamiya being Tamiya and not proofing their research. THIS is the CAG jet: https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.masm.fr%2FNavycag%2FMaddogDesignsProfiles%2FF-14%2FVF213-BlackLions-CAG-Mutha-Roosevelt-2006.jpg&imgrefurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.masm.fr%2FNavycag%2FMaddogDesignsTomcat.html&docid=MyldOMcTUI_4jM&tbnid=F_x9_eChJJavNM%3A&vet=10ahUKEwjbsZe8l4LfAhXM3YMKHXcuC1AQMwhDKAUwBQ..i&w=1304&h=794&bih=860&biw=1768&q=VF-213 Last cruise CAG jet&ved=0ahUKEwjbsZe8l4LfAhXM3YMKHXcuC1AQMwhDKAUwBQ&iact=mrc&uact=8 Edited December 2, 2018 by Skull Leader
