phantom
I saw a report on President Bush s funeral flyover. I noticed that the VFA-31 Tomcatter Super Hornet appeared to no longer have a CVW-8 (AJ) tail code. Looked like a N but I could not make out the second letter. Anyone know anything? GreyGhost
They apparently are now attached to CVW-11 aboard the TR, tailcode NH. CVW-8 currently doesn't have an 1XX modex squadron yet. -Gregg
Jonathan_Lotton
I saw that too. I asked a guy at 106 I know about it and he said he couldn't comment on anything.
Jonathan_Lotton
Now the question remains is if it's just a temporary assignment or if VFA-31 will be making the move to California.

VFA-34, VFA-25 & VFA-86 all transition from coast to coast to meet their respective air wings so its not without precedent. -Gregg
Darren Roberts
I heard someone say that all Navy Hornet squadrons have now transitioned to the Super Hornet. Is that true?
GreyGhost
I believe -34 & -37 are now going through transition. That would make fleet squadrons out of the Legacy Hornet business. VFA-83 Rhino: -Gregg Edited December 11, 2018 by GreyGhost
