Lancaster B.Mk.III in 1/72 by Revell

Recommended Posts

So far it definetely is a nice kit!

Can anyone enlighten me if there is aynthing like a rule or guideline concerning the flame-suppressors of the exhausts? I can either mount the exhaust pipes or the suppressors, but have no idea if that is related to the MK.I or MK.III-version. Any idea?

After putting the two halves together here is a small impression what can still be seen in the cockpit: At least the navigator is visible!

Now it´s time for the wings and all the stuff that´s mounted here:

The gear makes the bird looking like it has very long legs, so my impression:

The struts are quite long!

And it´s sitting on its own legs!

I was out of town for a business trip and when I returned, I was greeted by this:

The top MG-site now looks like this:

And the other two stands:

At this moment the three gunner figures are drying their fresh paint, and I think I will start the camo-scheme this evening.

I mentionend the first camo-color:

The brown is Revell 82 and I´m quite pleased with the overall look. I already painted some parts with the corresponding green, using Revell 68, but had not made any pictures yet.

Don´t expect any progress during the weekend, I´ll do a "short" trip (aka 6 hours of driving each direction) to the Netherlands with my daughter to go to a tournament. Wish her luck!

Since I did a lot of driving over the past weekend, I took this monday off from work and spent some time adding more camo:

I´m not completely satisfied yet, since there are still some light shades looking through the border-sections of the brown camo.

I´m a bit behind the curve with my pictures...

The camo is done, only a couple of parts still missing here:

Among them the cockpit-canopy, which reminds me of a glass-house:

You can still see some white glue which hasn´t dried yet.

It´s done!

I gave the panellines on the camoflaged-parts of the model a wash with brown. I also added the exhaust streaks, using Revell NATO-Oliv.

I´m very happy with the overall look of the model and will take more pictures for the gallery during the next days.

The build was fun, but you defenitely need to replace the gun barrels with some offering of the aftermarket!
