snake36bravo
Anti-Strella mods were standard on the NUH-1B TOW B models. Common for VNAF as well as Joint Commision Hueys with the various colored stripes. 11bee
There were a few other threads posted here on this subject, they are worth checking out. As noted above, these were fitted to most US Huey's that were still in-country in 72. Also, as shown in the pic above, OH-6A's were fitted with a pretty unique suppressors as well (not the same kind fitted to later AH-6C's). What I'm curious about is the blank paintwork applied to multiple UH-1H's and Cobras along with the toilet bowl mods. It seems unlikely that this was just custom paintwork by a bored crew chief since it's identical to what was painted on other Hueys and some Cobras. My only guess is that this was some sort of early low-IR reflective paint. I'd love to get more info. With regard to Hueys, keep in mind that many of those late helos has the windowless jump door fitted.
