Geoff M
Don't keep up with this stuff like I should. I thought I read somewhere the Navy was getting rid of the old Hornets. That leaves the SH and a few F-35s?
Camus272
The Navy recently got rid of their last fleet F-18C squadron. That leaves just aggressors and the Blue Angels (for three more seasons) as the last legacy Navy Hornets.
GreyGhost
The Marines will be flying their hornets off of the boats for for a little longer though. -Gregg
jonwinn
I always like the looks of the older Hornets. The new ones are OK but the As and Cs just seem to have a certain charm. Just out of curiosity what did the Canadians ever do to replace theirs, gotta be just about stressed out to the max.

GreyGhost
They're buying Australia's used legacy hornets. Took delivery of the the first few I guess. -Gregg

Yeah, I'm not excited about future Blue Angels shows. From what I've read about the new routines so far, nothing is going to be better. It will be a shorter show, with less inverted flying. I don't think the larger airframes are going to help either. The legacy Hornets just look more like a high performance sports car.

GreyGhost
The Blues show will be shorter as will the T-birds, the airshow industry is asking both teams to develop shorter routines. I've also read that some maneuvers the Blues will be adding were not possible in the legacy Hornets. So, yeah, there's trade offs just as there were when they gave up the Scooters. I still miss the Delta Landing. -Gregg
