Very happy along with others you are carrying on with this build. Beautiful work. Hello Craig, I hope you're doing well. I'm very pleased to have You following this. This kit isn't as good as the Revell Voodoo but I'm trying to turning it into something better. On 3/27/2020 at 4:13 PM, GeneK said: Craig, Thanks for the heads up on this outstanding build. Hello all, here's the news: I spent some time detailing the splitter plates and intakes. I scribed the plates first: Then I erased the outer detail with cyano and re-scribed and riveted a new lip: This part will be painted natural metal so a fine detail will add realism. There was a missing hot air exhaust on the right side of the fuselage side that had been scribed: The main elements of the undercarriage had been cleaned and drilled where necessary: The front gear wheel received some attention as well: Found a pin location was faulty and drilled a new one: A reference picture for the correct alignment: The shape of the mail wheel wells and doors had been changed a little: The main wheel well had been assembled. The engraved kit detail of the fuselage had been reproduced mirrored... so had been corrected and in the process I've added some vents and repositioned the anti-collision light as well: Here a picture of the wing main elements. The inner part of the elevons had been separated from the wings: The elevons had been glued together trying to gain the best alignment. A styrene bit had been added: All had been sanded and rescribed. I've added and detailed the aft round part to represent the elevon drooped as was very common on ground: The wing fences had been modified a little since they were too short: And here is the assembled wing: That's all for now. Please stay tuned! Bye Giovanni Edited April 13, 2020 by Giovanni

"It's one thing to have skills, it's another in being able to execute them at this level, in a manner such as this." Amazing work on scratch building, therefore elevating the overall appearance of the kit and model. No doubt the attention to details, and your attitude on this project will reveal a splendid model when completed... keep-up with the outstanding efforts and job well done! My little update: I've been working on the case XX wingtips modifying a little the contour and repositioning some lines In prevision of placing the Quick Boost position lights set I drilled some 1,7mm holes After some hesitations I decided to perform a scratch job on the instrument panel cover And after a layer of dark grey, a black oil wash and a light drybrushing in white: That's all for now. Soon for a new update. Bye Giovanni

Moses: I used a flat black basis then some light brown and lastly a little bit of off white. To conclude a wash with oils. Oh hello friends thank you for showing interest! sorry I didn't get any notification and just seen your last messages…. Had a very slow moving on the project but here's latest update. I decided to scratch a new windshield since the one in the kit has a very rounded edge. So I used some transparent styrene from evergreen. I polished it with clothes and compounds before cutting the new shape. Here was the dry fit: And the finished part: Giovanni Edited August 13, 2020 by Giovanni

Hammerhead11
This is amazing, especially since it's 1:72 scale! Fantastic work. I'm curious about the purpose of that divider in the front windscreen, do you know? Thanks, keep up the amazing work, Brett

Brett Hello Brett sorry for late reply. The divider is referred to as "anti-blinding curtain" according to some sources while other call it "vision splitter". Its purpose remains a mistery to me as well. Maybe someone else can be of help here. 19 hours ago, mppd@yahoo.com said: This is a wonderful build - covers many of the issues I am encountering with the Meng kit, and a very nice job detailing the various parts. Thank You! Yes this kit is so so and needs some extra care but I see a good potential in it. Otherwise I would have given up. So hello all dear modelers! It's time for an update: Time ago I got the Pavla detail set for the Dagger. The set isn't as detailed as an Aires or Cmk one but has the very advantage of a perfect fit with the kit parts. Let's start form this. The Pavla set offers a simplified optical visor which has been modified. This will hang from top of the windscreen but I'm going to place it there later in the build: After some paint: Another part wich needed a fix was the seat: The Pavla one has a totally wrong headrest and when placed inside the cockpit it remains too close to the instrument panel leaving a narrow space for pilot. So I decided to intervene coupling the Meng kit headrest with the Pavla seat and removing part of the rails from the back of the seat to reach the correct position inside the cockpit. Also some resin had been removed from the bottom. Here You can see the new seat at left and the original Pavla seat at right: This picture visually summarize the work done: And here some other views: Then was the time for the cockpit itself. This is very good and the job was reduced to just the instrument panel from wich I had to remove the visor to couple the new one already scratched. Some styrene had been added for a better fit with the instrument cover and to create some more room for the twin handled stick: A new trottle had been added since I had an accident with original one. All had been dry checked inside fuselage. As You can see the fit is very good with Pavla set: After a coat of black + the definive color (interior gray FS 36231): Then I started hand painting the seat details. I used the excellentVallejo color range. Here the final result after an oil wash: And the cockpit vane still missing some color and an oil wash: I have some extra time for modelling so some more updates will follow. Stay tuned Thank you for kind attention! Bye Giovanni

mppd@yahoo.com
Just curious if you are going to show the weapons bay doors open? This area is where I have been spending most of my time, as it needs so much more detail work. The bay area piece provided is not even close to what it looked like. Please continue your fine work...I can only hope to have mine look half as good! I can probably answer most detail questions on the deuce for you folks.
