hemspilot
What is the best F-18E or F out there?
picknpluck
I'd be interested in Academy's efforts if I were looking for a 1/72 Super Bug. They have an E, an F, and a G.
Paul Boyer
The latest Super Bugs from Academy are interesting; they are largely "press-together" kits. You don't really need glue to assemble them, but you'll probably want to use some and some filler here and there. They are designed to be built by beginners but still look terrific when done. Hasegawa's kits are also good, but probably more expensive. They have issued Super Hornet kits for more than a decade, and they have the E, F, and G kits in dozens of different boxes. DONG
The Hasegawa kit is nice and you can get aftermarket wing folds and cockpits. I know Lucky model sells the kits anywhere from $13US to $30 US depending on the boxing. The originnal E and F boxings are the cheapest. Don
Grindcore
This is a really cool build up of the Academy kit.
viking73
What about the “best” F/A-18A+ kit in 1/72 scale? Thanks, -Derek

Paul Boyer
Yes, Academy without question. It's a standard glue kit.
Johnopfor
Yep, Academy has the best 1/72 Legacy Hornets.

Don It's worth noting that the Hasegawa Super Hornets have changed tooling since its initial release. The first boxings have the Environmental Control System (ECS) exhausts per the original design which features relatively simple "slot" vents. At some point after the change was made to actual airframes, Hasegawa revised their molds to include the later "Bard stack" exhaust design. Unfortunately it's difficult to know exactly when the tooling changed (most if not all airframes now in service have the later exhaust design). An earlier discussion of this detail for 1/32 kits includes some illustrations: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?/topic/220909-fa-18ef-super-hornet-question/&do=findComment&comment=2102332
