Tamiya X-22 between coats

Recommended Posts

Hello

In the past, after putting down my base coat, if I had different paint layers to spray I would cover the base paint with a light coat of Future/Pledge to protect the base coat during handling and masking for the other layers.  Never had any issues doing this with Future/Pledge and it helped protect my base coat nicely.

I recently started using X-22 for my pre-decal coat and I really prefer the finish I get with X-22 over the finish I get with Future.  But I have not yet used it between multiple layers.

Has anyone used X-22 to protect a base coat then sprayed other layers over top?  Any issues or does anyone foresee any issues?

Thanks

I have done it,  and never had any issues. X-22, once fully cured its rock hard and durable. Hell, I even mix X-22  with Gunze and Tamiya paints, it gives the paint a hard eggshell finish look and, to me, makes the Tamiya nearly scratch-proff.
