Solo
New metallic lacquer are now available, but what do those SM2s differ from old ones? The new ones are much, much cheaper, but what about quality? Anyone know something?
shion
It's just rebadging. Former SM line used 18ml jar, the new line use traditionnal GSI Creos 10 ml jar. Same paints, smaller amount. Edited May 8, 2019 by shion

Keroburner89
I find this stuff so hard to spray. I think I need to thin it out a bit more and increase the needle/orifice size

He told me what ratio thinner to paint he used. For the life of me, I can remember what it was and I can't find where I wrote it down. He definitely thinned it more than I was doing. Maybe 50/50, maybe more. You definitely have to thin it well.
Keroburner89
That seems about right, it's rather thick stuff surprisingly... I'll have to check this Su-35 build out, sounds interesting!

You can really thin lacquers like these Mr Color paints a lot without problem.
Dmanton300
Try and get the rapid thinner too. It flashes off so fast that the metal doesn't settle, resulting in a finer, smooth and bright finish than with ordinary or levelling thinner.
shion
didn't know this one. Added to the shopping list.
Mstor
Good advice all round. Thanks guys. Now I have to write this stuff down and save it somewhere I won't forget. Where can get "Rapid" lacquer thinner? Is it one of those automotive paint products? I've been using Mr Color Leveling Thinner for all my Mr. Color paints.
