"GrowLear" - Learjet 60 as EW-aircraft in 1/72

Recommended Posts

As promised, this is the latest idea: I´m modifying an Amodel Learjet 60 into an electronic warfare bird.

This is the kit:

As usually, starting with the cockpit:

A decal represents the instruments.

Crew from Revell:

Slick and elegant lines!

Short wings:

And with full wings installed:

I plan to mount some wing pylons, I hope they will fit:

Yeah! That´s why I like "what if", because it´s sometimes not that unrealistic at all!

I just placed a bunch of antennas, and think the aircraft will most likely get the nickname "porcupine"!

"Stegolearus" just popped in to my mind.
I like that a crew was added, it is a thing to me to prefer to have 'somebody home' in aircraft models.

Yeah, I´m one of the biggest fans of the Revell Pilots set! 😉

I´v applied the first coat of color, using Revells Grey 76:

It looks very cool, but I think I will add another grey for a better camo-effect.

Added the second grey, Revell 57:

Summer has hit us now, we have over 34 degrees celsius over the day and the house is hot. When I put on the lights in the evening, bugs and flies come, because I have the doors open to get some cooler air... I don´t like these hot summers here, I was born at the coast...

Whoa! I didn't expect Germany to have the same kind of summer temperatures we get here in Missouri. Y'all are at latitudes near or in Canada compared to ours, we're at same latitudes as Portugal.
Had to look up conversion, 34C = more or less 93F. Yes, that leans toward the warm side.

Yeah, the last summers have been quite hot, even for german standards... Last few days fortunately have been a bit more relaxed...

It was not easy to fit the stores under the wing, but I was able to squeaze them in:

The old AGM-45 Shrike is mounted on one side:

An ALQ-119 on the other side:

And the whole perspective:

"Porcupine"!

Slick!

The markings are very spare on this bird and show only a registration:
