cag_200
I have seen the final countdown over 850 times in my life, i was 8. In the cinema, yes , my mam gave my 10 gulden to visit it, 1981, it was, i guess. I have seen many details but here i see the F-14 "202" without sidewinder fins, passing over the in-mint condition gatsby. What the heck? I know... it must be the beer and the love. afoxbat
Maybe it was an Air Force Sidewinder......? ( apologies to the guys in blue- old rivalries die hard.....😉 )
GW8345
That is a CATM-9 Sidewinder (looks like a CATM-9G/H), a inert training missile, painted up to look like a real Sidewinder. Back in the day, before F-18's, it was usual for CATM-9's to not have wings and/or fins. It wasn't until the F-18 entered service that they started installing wings and fins on CATM-9's due to they were required for F-18's. Inert training ordnance was used during the filming of the movie, the missiles were just painted up to look like live missiles since inert Sidewinders were dark blue.
