1991 F-15c stencils hi vis or low?

Recommended Posts

The Bulls eye set is correct.   ODS F-15's were still in the original two tone gray schemes with the early Stencils with you refer to as "HI-Viz".  IN fact, many still had the original paint with the red-white-blue national insignia on them where as others had been replaced with the Black stenciled insignia.    Just check your references.  The low viz was part of the MOD eagle repaints after ODS.

Here is a great reference link:

Building the Hasegawa F-15c as a Desert Storm aircraft, Have aftermarket decals for the squadron but only the kit's hi vis stencils, are they correct for this time period?

Low vis black is the way to go.  The repaint process also meant that much of the original stenciling had disappeared by that point.

Eglin did seem to be a bit less standardized, you'll notice that at this point some Eglin jets still had the old style, full color arresting hook warning in the top picture (rest of the stenciling was in black though) and another has full color national insignia in the formation picture with the Saudi F-5 (albeit with the the stenciling in black).  The insignia may have to do with being the Wing CC's "Gulf Spirit" jet though.
