1/48 C-130J to H

I'm looking for a 1/48 C-130H but they're hard to come by and the ones that do are EXPENSIVE

I was wondering how difficult would it be to convert a J to a H (since there's plenty of J's on Ebay)

I was planning on using an after market engine set anyways. What other external differences are there?

There are no other main differences, the engines and props are the obvious difference.

 

Some minor differences are:

 

Antenna layout different, the H has HF wires, the J doesn't

ECM fit different or not used on the  H

Cockpit windows blanked on J but not on the H (don't paint over the lower clear parts)

J has the large deicing boot on the base of the tail, the H does not (just don't paint the boot)

 

They are the main things that come to mind, I have converted a couple of H kits to Js in 1/72.

Yes, the H and J both can have external tanks fitted. Hs most of the time, Js some of the time.

Practically nothing needs be done to make the J kit into another apart from swapping out engines which would usually need to be done anyway even if you buy the "H" kit which makes me wonder why they fetch such a price on ebay
