Emvar
Looking around since Canada is buying 16 CC-295/ CASA C-295 SAR aircraft and was wondering if it is worth my time purchasing one.
phantom
This is a good question. Hopefully a main stream kit and Canadian markings are coming.
Brian Kirean
Hi I have the Scratchaeronautics Casa 235 which is the short version of the 295 so most findings will apply and its a very mixed bag. The positives; -Its one of only two options available to you; there is another in the form of the Broplan vacuform. I understand that Scratchaeronautics are stopping production so if you want one you need to be quick. -The kit has some interior detailing though not extensive. -the fine detailling around the airframe looks good and it tallys with my photos -Breakdown of parts is well thought out, the undercarriage in particular is alot better than the Broplan approach. - Small details like the props are nice. The negatives - its a garage built grade of resin kit so mouldings are not consisently good -some very thin fuselage walls, - tons of air bubbles pockmarks on my example - the real killer is that on my example the two fuselage halves don't match. There is a sizeable step between the two fuselage halves. -decals are home printed/Alps by the look of them making them thick. All of these things are fixable if you are an experienced modeller. I choose to try building my Broplan vacuform first as I figured it would be easier !!! Edited October 15, 2019 by Brian Kirean
