scimitar
Am reposting this query after the first was lost in the recent forum issues. Not having been able to find specific info on all the earlier asv radars that didn't comprise a single dish scanner, I was puzzled by a photo of a PB4Y with those emitter poles and wires on the waist, without the receiver yagis underwing, with the ventral ball turret. The only other antennas I can see are those four small ones right under the cockpit on many PB's which I had always thought were for homing. So, now I'm confused when I only see one set of antennas without the other. A close look at a Swordfish with yagis reveals a short antenna on the upper wing leading edge over the cockpit, but no such additional transmitter on USN single engine planes with yagis on their wings, having assumed (wrongly?) that said yagis were only receivers. Anyone know??? Thanks!
