Pierre Sacha
Hi guys, I am busy with a 1/48 F-86F-30 Sabre, SAAF in Korea 1953. Just as a matter of interest, is the Sabre nose gear offset to one side by any chance? Looking at my Hasegawa kit, it sure looks like it. Thanks, Pierre
Hubbie Marsten
Think it's the wrong angle of the fork on the nose landing gear strut what gives the impression of an offset leg. Check the piece on the Monogram 1/48 F-86 kit for comparison.

Thanks, Pierre Hi Pierre, There are two offset dimensions in play here for the nose gear of the Sabre. The nose gear strut itself is offset to the right in the nose gear forward tunnel and the nose gear forward tunnel is offset to the left of the centerline. These 2 offsets effectively zero each other out so the nose gear strut is on the centerline of the jet. Cheers, John
Snowbird3a
stupid photobucket, never mind Edited November 9, 2019 by Snowbird3a
Snowbird3a
I made resin copies of the Monogram nose leg to replace the hopeless inaccurate angled Hasegawa nose fork. Tony
Pierre Sacha
Thanks to all for responding, I was not aware that the Hasegawa nose gear is wrong. I do have the Academy kit also, how is the nose gear leg of this kit? Regards, Pierre

I'll have to see if SAC makes a metal Monogram set. Either that or try to pic up a cheap Monogram kit.
smokeriderdon
To the best of my knowledge the Academy gear is good. I didnt notice any issue when I built it. But I am far from an expert.
Collin
Academy or Hasegawa 1/48 kit OOB, which kit is better? Figured I would ask since both kits are being discussed. Cheers Collin
Pierre Sacha
Much appreciated guys! Regards, Pierre
Snowbird3a
the Academy nose gear is just as bad as the Hasegawa fork. It should be a smooth tube with no stupid angles
