1/72 Italeri KC-130J

I have been getting to this one when I can, I have finally got the under wing stores painted and attached.

Some more painting and wheel well doors to go. I may have to redo the black areas under the wings, I don't think the shape of the black area is quite right.

This baby is looking good.  A  few more updates and she will be ready to fly.

The balack areas under the wing aren't straight as seen below.....This also shows how dirty she gets on a regular basis.

There is another missle system besides the tomahawks. It carries the griffen missle which is launched from the left paratroop door. There are only to small tubes that go threw the door

I hope this info helps sir.

Very helpful! Thank you sir!

I have repainted the black areas to better reflect the wedge shape. I am not sure if I will dirty it up yet. I am not the best at weathering 😄

From other pictures I have seen I note that the port inboard fuel tank gets very dirty/sooty. Also the sensor turret is a darker grey than the lower fuselage colour.

Looking good!  I'm guessing the sensor turret is in Gunship Grey, which is standard for most FLIR's and targeting pods.

Decalling finally started, I also realised that there are few area I have to add a touch of paint such as intake lips and the ice detection strips near the wing tips.

The missiles were also giving me grief trying to glue small etch fins on them. So I am going to go for a set of less accurate ones from another kit.

Thanks Dutch

Slowly but surely, with 48 decals for the props and 8 on each Hellfire it is slow going, I have also been doing some detail paint and screwing up some touch ups.

2 sets of Hellfires here, a resin set that came with the attack Squadron conversion and a set from a Testers Apache, I am going with the latter as I could not get the forward etch fins on the resin ones with out a lot of frustration

Half way there with the prop decals

Almost ready for a flat coat

Looks great. I have tried to build 2 different C-130's in my life and they both ended up in the junk bin (one is being rebuilt by my dad now). I have another in the stash and hopefully one day I can get it built!

Two steps forward...

I managed to spill a splash of SMS flat coat on the thing tip while flat coating and it decided to eat the paint. I had to repair it

mate - that looks awesome! Makes me want to build my C- 130 Gunship

What I like most of all is that it isn't weathered to all heck and back. It emphasizes the 130's lines to a degree

Looks fantastic next to the A-400 as well. Really fantastic work on both Ray

Very nicely done!

What I do find remarkable is that the A400 looks like about the same size as the C-130 - maybe I should build one finally, since I do have 7 C-130s already...

Thanks everyone,

HAJO the A400 is a 'tad' bigger than the C-130

I decided to break out my C-17 to compare it as well, I had forgotten how far along I was with it, I am hung up on the windscreen at the moment, but I realised I could be carrying on with other parts like the wings and engines.

Ray, that Herc looks really great.

Love those walk ways and your recovery on them.

You know there is a legend about how was discovered that "Future" was a good stuff for models: apparently a not closed bottle spilled down from a shelf in a garage on a painted model...

Great finish. A lesson for detail hunting.

Euge
