GLMFAA1
Need help in painting 1/72 scale F 4 Phantom in the 1980's marine two tone gray colors. Are there any masking kits or any suggestions on how to go about this. Using Tamiya paints so what color choice do I have. greg
picknpluck
Marine low-viz Phantoms were painted in 3-tone Tactical Paint Scheme (TPS) consisting of FS35237 on top, FS36320 on the sides, and FS36375 on the bottom. Some units used FS36118 instead of 35237 on top. Check references. Tamiya does not offer these colors unless you mix paints. Tamiya paint mixes for these colors are readily available on Google. Most other paint brands do carry these colors in their lines. The F-4 TPS pattern is fairly simple; I'm not aware of any masks for this pattern but it is easy enough to mask using rolled up blue tack, panzer putty, or silly putty, etc. There are slight variations to the pattern that seem to differ by squadron so, again, check your references. Hope this helps.
