Testors clear decal film and paint etching

Just a question for anyone who has used Testors inkjet decal paper and their decal bonder.  I had built a model for a friend a couple of years ago, and it came back to me for a repair.  There were a couple of custom decals on the bottom, that I had printed.  Around the edges of the decal film, the paint had been etched right down to bare plastic.  Apologies....I forgot to take photos, but I hope my explanation is kind of clear. 

 

Has anyone else run into this with decals that they have printed using the Testors decal paper?
