Fujimi 1/72 A-7D Corsair II

This is my build of A-7D 69-6222 “Scrappy” from the Springfield OH ANG. I’m using the Fujimi kit, and Repliscale decals. I found some really nice reference pics on Airliners of a weathered “Scrappy” during her service life. I started this kit earlier this fall, so here are some pics to get caught up.

A little scratch building and photo etch from the spare box to dress up the kit ejection seat.

Some pics of how I do the intake.

Thanks!

Added some panel lines and gloss coat. All ready for decals.

This is my first time using X-22 for gloss, and I'm really impressed and pleased with the results. I wish I would have made the switch from Future years ago.

This is where I'm at right now. More to come.

Excellent weathering.  Random, organic, realistic.  The exact opposite of the "highlight every panel line" school.  Well done.  Fujimi Corsairs are fantastic.

Looks great, always liked that scheme on the platform and you have done an outstanding job with it.  Just noticed the white starboard leading edge.  Any idea what that was for?

Thanks!

I found a reference pic of Scrappy with a replaced unpainted gray leading edge flap and decided to try to duplicate it for fun.

Did you encounter any issues with the RepliScale decals?  I know they are quite old and I have several RS sheets in the stash so I’m curious...

No major problems. They held together, but the adhesive was REALLY milky and I had to rinse some of that off before applying. In the end it dried crystal clear, so no complaints. My setting solution of choice is Solvaset, and they settled down nicely with no other issues. My only real concern is; they look oversized for the kit. Accuracy could be a bigger issue than the quality of the decals.
