ytsejam87
Saw a thread here from 2009, and was wondering if a decade has made a difference in any recommendations for printing, paper, etc. Printer wise, what would the minimum recommended resolution be? At a price point of ~500.00, what would you all recommend? Laser or inkjet? Are there any printers that work better for decal work?
Rob de Bie
They still can't print white, that you need for all decals. Unless you only build white models, or just want to print black decals. Consider outsourcing the printing. Here are two lists of custom decal printers, Alps and others: https://robdebie.home.xs4all.nl/models/decals.htm#custom As an example, here's a sheet that Spotmodel did for me: Rob
ytsejam87
Rob, thanks for the reply and link. It sounds like you have walked thru this minefield before!!!!! Still, I am curious if anyone has opinions on the Canon PIXMA TS9521C Wireless printer? It seems to come with a white cartridge. Canon claims it has a max resolution of 4800x1200. dnl42
There is actually white toner for lasers now. Ex-pen-sive though. Apparently not a single-pass operation, either. I have cut white decal paper using my Silhouette Portrait cutter in the past, so I'll continue doing that...
