jstar
Were the doors to the three weapons bays on the F-102 always opened at the same time in an intercept, or were they/could they open individually as required?
Spruemeister
I've only ever seen them all open in photos. Plus, the doors all had to be open to fire the unguided rockets in the doors after the Falcons were gone. Rick L.

Murph
The missiles were launched in salvos, so if the IR missiles were selected all three were launched, which meant all the doors opened. The same was true of the radar missiles until the AIM-26 was added. One of things driving this was the limited amount of compressed air to open the doors (same for the F-106) another was the low Pk of the AIM-4. Regards, Murph

jstar
Thank you! That's terrific, and answers a lot of questions I had on the operation of the launch rails. Just great. Joe
