strikeeagle801
Hi all My family and I are taking a trip down to Utah in a few weeks, and I was thinking about trying to go to the air museum at Hill AFB, but I can't find much online about it. Is it open to the public? Has anyone been there recently, and If so, do you recommend it? How long do I need to plan on being there for? Any and all help is appreciated. martin_sam_2000
From What I can gather on the site, and looking at the location on google maps, It looks like the museum entrance is BEFORE the base gates, so there should be no issues accessing the museum. Never hurts to call/e-mail to confirm. I have found most museum have been more than happy to answer questions and help you out with making your visit worth your time. As a Canadian Citizen, I was even granted access to the Selfidge Museum even though it was on base. The museum director made all the security arrangements, met me at the visitor center and drove on base to the museum. Sean
skyhawk174
The last time I was there was in 2002 and I thought it was great. I had no problem gettting access and I am Canadian. Will like to get back one day as I am sure there is more stuff there now.
weirich1
YES, it has always been open to the public! It is on base property but outside the secure perimeter.
Steve N
Fantastic museum! We visited in 2017, and I was surprised at the size of their collection. Most are indoors, but some of the larger aircraft are displayed outdoors. Sadly, I hear they're talking about scrapping the B-47 because it's in poor structural condition and there aren't any funds to rebuild it. SN
strikeeagle801
Thank's for the answers everyone. It is on the itinerary for the trip. Unfortunately, this is not a pleasure trip. I'm going down to say goodbye to my sister who has terminal cancer and has weeks to live. As long and she holds on and everything goes according to plan, I'll be able to hit the museum on the way down or on the way up to see her. Otherwise, it may have to wait for another time. David Fifer
I'm sorry about your sister. Others have already responded, but I just saw your original post and will add that I live just a few miles away from Hill and visit the museum periodically. It's a fine museum, open to the public, easily accessible from I-15, and you can't beat the admission price (free). It's definitely worth a visit if your circumstances permit. Once there, you can decide how long you want to stay.
