galileo1
Hi all.. I'm in the process of gathering some info on P-36As for an upcoming build of the 1/32 Special Hobby P-36A. The instructions include two schemes...One is in natural metal and the other one is in olive drab over neutral Grey. Both schemes place these two aircraft in Hawaii in 1941 during the attack on Pearl Harbor. So, the question is...Were there any P-36As in the olive drab over neutral grey scheme in Hawaii in 1941? I found one photo that captions one P-36A in Hawaii but I'm not sure it's completely accurate. Any feedback on this will be appreciated.
gmat
Yes. Look at this photo. P-36 156? is OD/NG. The one on the left is a P-26. I believe that the other on the right is an A-12, ex 26th AS now a hack . Grant
dnl42
Take a look at https://aviation.hawaii.gov/aviation-photos/1940-1949/ Be aware my Chrome browser refuses to load some pages and photos due to poor coding and security issues. Probably works just fine on Windows and Internet Destroyer... I've got an image with a filename suggesting it's from Morse Field showing a Goose (OA-9) in the foreground with a line of NMF P-36s behind it. All the aircraft have a dark cowling. I know the 6th Pursuit Squadron, based at Wheeler Field, used a red cowling. Not sure what unit these aircraft are from nor what color the cowling could be.
