KursadA
Another great KC-10! I wish they bring back this scheme on a heritage KC-46 one of these days.

Spruemeister
Was the KC-10 scheme kind of a Douglas creation, or Air Force? I suppose it doesn’t matter much now that it’s all Boeing. Rick L.

I was on the Ten from 1985-2005 and saw all the scheme changes but never heard where the original came from. I will research. BTW, the last Ten was delivered in 1988 and McD did not merge with Boeing until 1997; none us ever considered it a "Boeing" airplane.

Curt
This is the answer I received from one of the initial cadre pilots. “It was a combination of DAC/AF. CMSGT Greg Oveson was responsible for the flag on the tail and the stripes on the side.” 5 hours ago, Da SWO said: The original paint scheme was a McDD creation. The next two schemes were AF driven. AD-4N
Whoever designed the delivery scheme for the KC-10 deserves the thanks of a grateful nation. The best looking operational paint scheme ever. Not withstanding the Loewy scheme on AF1.
Spruemeister
Thanks for looking into it. Such a nice scheme but I don’t know how I’d feel about it on a Pegasus. Rick L.
Curt
I agree. I'm going the JASDF KC-767 route.

Hooker169
That’s a great looking build, Chris! I admire guys who can pull off those cheat lines flawlessly like this. I always seem to struggle with mine.

AD-4N
Fabulous EC-121!!!!! When I lived on Guam in the early 1970s, used to see gray/white versions flying over all the time.
Paul Boyer
Here is my latest model with one of Caracal's latest sheets: F-104B in 1/72 scale from Revell Germany with decals from the recent test and drone Zippers sheet. And as a bonus, a HobbyBoss U-2A with Caracal decals (replacing the kit decals of the same aircraft). Both jets in the Air Research and Development Command Flight Test Center at Edwards AFB at about the same time (1958). The shiny natural metal on the Zipper is Gunze Mr. Color "Super Chrome Silver 2" (SM 206) right out of the bottle with no primer. Love it! And it doesn't rub off on my fingers! The Dayglo is Mr. Color Fluorescent Orange (C173) over Tamiya fine white primer. Enjoy!
KursadA
A triplet of orange goodness - awesome RC-121, U-2, and F-104! I really appreciate the photos.

AD-4N
These have been seen before online, but this was the first time they had a "public showing." 😀 At the SLC Model Contest on Sep 21. The 1/144 C-135A won Gold in its category, the C-141B won Silver. On the feedback sheet both remarked about the decals. Which I couldn't have done without our favorite decal maker. KursadA
Awesome! Congratulations for the awards. It is because of posts like these that I probably will never be able to stop making decals...
KursadA
Hopefully Arrowhead will find the time to post a version of this ongoing build (or at least the finished model) here at ARC too, but you can follow his YF-16 progress here:

So this is finally my take at YF-16 #2 in her magnificent « Cloud » livery, with guess-who’s decals to round it up. Cross-kitted between ARII, Monogram and Hasegawa with bits and pieces from Tamiya and Kinetic. And a good amount of scratchbuliding too. Fifty years of Viper ! Hope you like it. BTW Kursad, you got to have produced the most profitable of decal sheets with this F-16 Early Years reference. I already used it to good effect on my AFTI/F-16, and I’m intending to do the F-16/79 and F-16/101 as well ! Edited October 9, 2024 by The Arrowhead
