Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
Looking for ideas as to which 1/72 aftermarket exhausts would most closely resemble those on the MiG I-250/MiG-13. I've been looking at 1/72 Quickboost and Eduard exhausts for the P-51A, Spitfire "fishtail" exhausts, and Typhoon. They would need to be about 16mm in length, total. Here's a photo of the real thing to match: Edited April 5, 2020 by Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
Cool Hand
Those exhausts look very 109-ish.
Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
Thank you! I'm seeing the 109E is definitely not right, would this be the 109F, G or K? That's what I'm finding as similar, in the Quickboost offerings....I'm leaning toward the F but not sure yet. 109F: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Quickboost-72219-1-72-Bf109F-Exhaust-for-Fine-Models/191006352992?epid=1744194636&hash=item2c78dda660:g:0dUAAOxygPtSsKns 109G: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Quickboost-72206-1-72-Bf109G10-Exhaust-for-Revell/191104720533?hash=item2c7eba9e95:g:IqQAAOSwvflZVZn1 109K: https://www.ebay.com/itm/QUICKBOOST-1-72-Bf109K-Exhaust-for-HLR-D-QUB72201/323997724470?epid=1844129136&hash=item4b6fc4ef36:g:mwcAAOSw8fdd4uHV Edited April 5, 2020 by Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
Cool Hand
The F ones look strange to me. The outlet holes are much too large. in reality they should look just like the later exhaust pipes. Go with the G or K.
GW8345
Recommend you look for aftermarket exhaust for the following aircraft; Yak 3 Yak 9 Pe 2 Mig 7 Su 5 The Klimov VK-107 engine used in the Mig 13 was also used on the above aircraft (in different sub-variants) so I would think the exhausts would be either very similar or the same. Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
Thank you! Although, I have learned that the same basic engine often has different exhausts when used in different aircraft types. For instance, the Il-2 and the MiG-3 use the same engine but have different exhaust pipes. So all I'm looking for is cosmetic, something which captures the appearance.
