Andrew Maverick Taylor
Most of us are aware of the Hairspray technique for paint chipping and yes I have used it myself but has anyone used hairspray much in the same way as a gloss coat before applying decals? I know about the whole argument for glossing vs not glossing before decals, but lets leave that subject alone please. If anyone has tried using hairspray before decals has there been any issue with it reacting with Micro Set and Micro Sol?
jonwinn
My sisters used Aqua Net in the 60s. Smelled like Testors gloss cote to me. You might just have an idea there!-jon
ESzczesniak
Most hairspray is water soluble. That what makes it work for the weathering/chipping technique. The water used will start to break down the hairspray and it'll come off in patches along with the paint over the top. So I would be worried with decals since they go on with water. It's possible the hairspray might not loosen enough or might dry again looking ok. But I would definitely test on a meaningless piece first.
