Dutch Posted July 14, 2022 Share Posted July 14, 2022 (edited) Harold Merlin Austin, Jr (aka Uncle "Bunny") went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday morning, 9 July 2022 surrounded by his wife and a few family members. I am sorry for the lost opportunity to present him personally with a model of "his" aircraft, but I will still build the kit as a tribute to him for his family. Semper fi! The name stenciled under the port forward windscreen is "LTCOL W.E.DOMINA". I have this info from a photo on page 32-33 in the Osprey Air Combat series on the Vought F-8 Crusader by Peter Mersky. Book cover. Page 32-33. That's "Uncle Bunny" kneeling second from left. This is the photo caption for the photo for the USMC VMCJ-2 Detachment at GITMO. It mentions the two pilots, including Capt Harold Austin (red oval) and Capt Gary Hynes. I will see if I can get flat scans.
