Stefan buysse
Hi, Kits-World decal set 172206 "D-Day commemorative schemes nose-art Set 2" has decals for a C-47 named " Southern Cross" with a big T9 code. So far, I have been unable to find out which squadron (TCS) had the T9 code. The others on the sheet were easy to find "Tico Belle" code Z8 was from the 84th TCS and "Placid Lassie" code ID was from the 74th TCS . Does anyone know which TCS had the T9 code? Cheers, Stefan. Cubs2jets
Stefan, I do not know the answer to "T9", but the markings may not be accurate. Southern Cross is owned by the Vintage Flying Museum in Ft. Worth, Texas and flew to Europe to participate in the D-Day commemorative last year. The aircraft is NOT a C-47 but actually served as a C-49J (passenger door, not cargo) as a paratroop trainer. Google "Southern Cross C-47" for additional information. C2j
Stefan buysse
Thanks, C2j. That seems to be the answer. All my searches prior to asking here led to the Vintage Flying Museum's aircaft. They seem to have chosen a unused squadron code for their aircraft. It was otherwise completely painted as a D-Day aircraft with full invasion stripes. Cheers, Stefan.
