Eduard Bf 109G-6 1/48

Recommended Posts

Just finished the Eduard Bf 109G-6 in 1/48.  This was from the original release that was slightly sized wrong.  Most of the marking are painted on using masks I made with the Cameo.  The decals for the eyes gave me some trouble and I ended up painting the red around the edge.  Weathering was done with oils and pigments.  I still need to practice with both.  I struggled with some of the photo-etch.  Not completely happy with this build but happy to be done!  Feedback welcome.  Thanks.

Very cool looking Rodney. Question, how was the construction process? Decent or difficult?

Overall, it's a good kit.  There are a few places that could be improved or I need to be better at....

The exhaust are fitted prior to glueing the fuselage halves together.  On the next one I build, I'll try to modify the exhaust to be painted and glued on at the end.  The split flaps were a pain to glue on.  I saw a suggestion where to glue the top flap to the top half of the wing and bottom flap to the bottom prior to glueing the wings together.  Eduard supplies a photo-etch piece that simulates the spring that holds the canopy in the open position.  The part was either way too short or I had it too far open.  I'm not sure if any of this changed on when Eduard re-engineered the kit.

Thanks,

Rodney
