Falconxlvi
Model #2 for 2020 complete. Here is my 1:48 Tamiya F4U-1D modeled after the Boeing Museum’s FG-1D Corsair in Seattle, WA. This project kind of took on a life of it’s own. I started this project early last summer and got distracted by a few other projects along the way 😌. But, it’s finally done! Finish: Markings and insignia created with Maketar masks and MicroScale 45 ID numbers/letters. Archer fine transfers for placards and stencils. Paint is Mission Models Gloss Sea Blue (MMP-065) varnished with Tamiya X-22. Aftermarket: Vector cowl ring/exhaust flaps, EDUARD placards and steelbelts, Ultracast wheels, AK Lenses, Master 50 Caliber barrels, Quickboost gunsight Scratch: Wingfold hydraulic lines, navigation lights, fuel tank fuel filler cap, engine ignition wiring, landing gear bay wiring. Thanks for stopping by and all the encouragement along the way. The in-progress thread is located here and has better detail shots of the various sub-assemblies. cruiz
Amazing build Steve I like the balance you achieve, parts with lots of details like the engine and wing fold, and the rest of the plane with a smooth, flawless finish; you put the bar high. Thank you for sharing Carlos

Thanks- I was hoping they would spruce up the non-weathered nature of the build. Clean airplanes don’t have to be boring! It is definitely different to not weather an aircraft, but the clean finish proved to be just as demanding (the dang chrome silver wash for the rivets was a pain to clean up!)
