Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
I've narrowed my choices of able-to-attempt Vermont markings to these two. Assuming the colors on #1 are yellow and black, and assuming #2 is an accurate profile (hmm), which would you do? I like #1 for the stripe....I like #2 for the buzz number. Which would you choose if it was yours? I won't ask after this, I promise.... Edited May 14, 2020 by Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy

Slartibartfast
Another vote for 939 because of the command stripe.

Whiskey
564. Sorry I have to go against the masses here. I think the command stripe makes it look more like a Reno racer than a military aircraft.

Exactly, the "military look" of the buzz number is what keeps me coming back....originally was hoping to do one that had both stripe and buzz numbers, but it got too confusing trying to figure out what colors were used on those planes.... ...ugh.... Whiskey
I like the way that the "U.S. Air Force" is in smaller lettering size than the rest as it's there, you can see it, but it's more indescreet than the rest.
Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
Okay, I chickened out. 😁 More photos of her in the Critique Corner forum, including a family photo of her with the 11 Vermont ANG planes so far....
Dutch
Andy, Just simply beautiful! I am jealous now. The sister squadron in New Hampshire flew primarily Hs, but also had several Ds on hand. I promised myself that I would finish as many bench queens as I could this year, but you now have me hankering to do a 133rd FIS machine. 🤔😎
Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
Thanks Dutch, for the kind words as well as advice. Vermont kinda mirror-imaged NH, I believe, in that they had a full complement of D's and added 6 H's later. Would love to see what you come up with for 133rd's machines! jonwinn
Late to the party but I am liking the one with the stripe, 939, seems to add more class to it. I lived not far from Vt growing up as a kid, lived in Berkshires in Taxachusetts. We had F-51H Mustangs until 1954 in ANG. I was 2 years old when the guard went to F-94Bs. I always wanted to do the F-51H but is there even a kit of it ? jon

Slartibartfast
In 1:48, your choices for injected kits are Classic Airframes and Modelsvit.
jonwinn
Thanks, the 1/48 Modelsvit is the way to go. It seems to have the best detailing. Now I need to find color images of MASS ANG F-51Hs and see if there are any decals. I found this color one and a B&W with a spiraled nose. jon
