BastianD
Started with constructing the kit’s standard landing gear. The description shows differences with the real thing, especially with the panels attached to it. Will correct that later on.

BastianD
And attaching the first photo etched parts to improve the cockpit:
SQLModeller
Can't wait to see this finished. I grew up just down the road from Lakenheath and they were the planes of my childhood flying over in the 70s & 80s. I remember the roar in the middle of the night when they went on that raid! BastianD
I live in the east of Holland close to the German border, and quite frequently a pair of Varks passed from south to the north of Holland on patrol, and returned to the UK via the North Sea. Impressive machines which can show their teeth.
BastianD
Recently purchased some ResKit F-111F exhaust nozzles, as they give far more detail than the original kit pieces.
BastianD
And a Master Model pitot tube
BastianD
Started to work on the cockpit, with reference to Verlinden Lock On No5 detail pictures and many more from internet. Also sprayed and washed the photo etched side panels. Not finished yet, but it starts to look like it.

Aigore
Looking great! Love the pit 😄 a suggestion is to add curled, thin wires to the area between the seats...really makes the cockpit come alive 🙂
BastianD
Thanks for the hint!
Mr Matt Foley
Glad to see you back at it. I have many of the same updates and someday will head back to the bench to work on it. Back in the 1994-96 days, I actually completed the same project with the same updates. Unfortunately, I used Xtracolor paints which spray on gloss and need extensive drying time. Although I did a beautiful job spraying the pattern, I was victim of lack of patience and tried to use a lamp and bulb to heat the paint "gently". So much for that idea...the heat warped one of the intakes beyond repair. Alas.....it found the trash bin.
BastianD
That’s too bad!

BastianD
Finally received my resin parts from DMold for the improved TPII profiled intakes! Now the real build can begin!
Mr Matt Foley
I have a set for my build too . Very nice, but haven't a clue if they fit very well. Now lets see some magic! Edited January 1, 2021 by Mr Matt Foley
BastianD
Some work in progress on the cockpit: I added the Attack Radar Tracking controller for the WSO, had to re-shape a part of the Academy kit for it. Also worked in making the opening for the DMold intakes.
