KursadA
I'm sorry, but I think something is getting lost in translation here. I tried to explain everything in my post above. I believe you are looking for markings for aircraft 11 (eleven). These were not on the original design, but I will most likely add the necessary markings to the black insert. KursadA
Here is the new design - I have moved BuNos and some of the black markings to the second insert, which will also have the black striping applied to some of the test aircraft as Habu described. Dan 88
Looks awesome. Loving the PMTC subjects A-6A, A-4M and now this!
Quixote74
I was aleady excited for the 1/72 version of this sheet, with the updates it got even better! Knowing there are a lot of detail differences with these early airframes (gun gas vents, undernose fairings, boat tail, wing fences, etc) will you be setting up a reference page as you have for some other types? I will try to put together some minimal write-up but probably not in great detail. Clearly the prototype & early test airframes are a specialty subject and some research by the modeler is needed. Maybe we can start a discussion going here, which I can then incorporate into the references page. Edited June 24, 2020 by KursadA

dmk0210
Which was the aircraft that infamously lost hydraulics and on attempted landing, crashed in the woods just yards away from the end of the runway at Calverton? Was that aircraft #1 BuNo. 157980?

Yes, on 30 December 1970, on it's second flight. https://theaviationist.com/2013/01/29/tomcat-first-flight/ . Edited July 11, 2020 by habu2 added link

AD-4N
Just a guess, but I think this will be the sheet that sells out the fastest in the history of Caracal Models.
KursadA
Last few days before I enable preorders for both 1/48 and 1/72 sheets. So much work went into this one, hopefully you will like it.

Slartibartfast
I have that top-side photo of an FSD (#6?) model testing asymmetric wing configuration forever stuck in my head. First saw it Airpower magazine in the mid-1970s. Edited October 5, 2020 by Slartibartfast
riffraff
I am pretty sure that is #3.
Quixote74
It was indeed #3 (BuNo 157982) that conducted the famous asymmetric wing sweep test. This is actually the oldest Tomcat still in existence, on display at the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Long Island: F-14A No. 3 Prototype
KursadA
So..what do you think? This one indeed has been a best seller so far. The next instalment in the "Early Years" series will be the A-10. Edited November 6, 2020 by KursadA
