K8B
Started about 20 years ago and finally completed. A 1970s kit, needing a fair bit of filling and sanding but basically very accurate, though with plenty of scope for adding small details. A few small parts like the tailwheel and landing lights had been lost over the years, but I think my replacements are a slight improvement. Panel lines are raised but almost invisible under a layer of paint. When originally built the Boeing 247 was covered with anodized Duralumin panels which varied in shade giving a noticeable patchwork appearance, the colour being described as a greyish-green. This was initially considered acceptable but adverse passenger comments and comparison with the uniformly shiny Douglas DC-2 eventually led to the aircraft being given a coat of paint. The model depicts a Boeing 247 as modified to 247-D standard with upgraded engines and other improvements in 1935, but still with the forward-raked windscreen of the original 247. The United Air Lines decals came with the kit; some of them began to break up while being applied but were mostly repairable.
Dutch
Wow! Great, no better yet, terrific work on this old Williams Brothers kit. Looks very authentic and as if it's just waiting to board some passengers. Nice! K/r. Dutch

Trojan Thunder
Nicely done, it certainly is a unique finish to the other airliners of the day.
