Spruemeister
Alrighty. Lets go in the positive direction and list planes with our favorite verticals. We've beat up the ugly gear and family models. Lets put what we like out there and say why. F-4 Phantom. Big ol' slab of aluminum tring to help a brick fly. Has the look of authority. Certainly not taking any short cuts. Go... Rick L. Edited August 1, 2020 by Spruemeister correct
11bee
F-102, followed by the early 707’s with the pitot tube (or maybe it’s an antenna) on the top.
Slartibartfast
I like this one.
ChesshireCat
I instantly thought B17! Otherwise it'd be the F18 gary
Mstor
I like the F-14 and F-22. And if it can actually be counted as vertical stabs, the YF-23 (they are kind of a combo deal).

I must first see it in my heart and then if I work hard and truly believe I will see that which cannot be seen. Your wisdom, as always, has enlightened my way.

airmechaja
I don't have a pic of it but the winner must be the Tornado. After all it's nickname was "the fin".
Bounce
not this one nor this one but this one! Edited August 2, 2020 by Bounce

airmechaja
It doesn't beat the Tornado but it WINS!
Curt B
For me, it's the F-15 twin tails. I've always been fascinated with how phenomenally thin those tails are for such large structures. But they also are quite tall, and they have a look of serious authority, to my mind, anyway. I have a GWH 1/48 F-15C in my stash, and have always wondered if they were able to capture the amazing look of those tails...don't know, and I haven't looked at the parts yet! The L-1011 comes close, though! Edited August 2, 2020 by Curt B

Dave Williams
So, is this thread supposed to be about tails, or tail art?
Solo
Both: F-16 is not only the best looking aircraft in the world, but also has the best looking tail art.
Spruemeister
I was thinking shape, but go wherever you want to. We’ve had Betty Grable and a B-2 so it’s wide open. Rick L.
southwestforests
Blackburn Buccaneer, look at that swoop! Boeing 727, multi-tasking T-tail and engine intake. Bristol F.2, I dunno why; just because.
WymanV
Not a big jet fan but I always liked this one:
