hemspilot
Howdy all, can anyone confirm that the latest Greek F-16C have enlarged tail fairings similar to those of the UAE F-16E (C Blk.60), or is it just the angle of the photos? That would be regardless of the brake chute additional fairing. Thanks. Edited August 14, 2020 by hemspilot Correction
habu2
Greece purchased two batches of Block 52 F-16Cs under the Peace Xenia III and Peace Xenia IV programs. Both batches have the extended parabrake housing on the aft end of the base of the vertical stabilizer. In addition, the second batch (52+) can also carry conformal fuel tanks (CFTs). AFAIK all Greek Bk52 F-16s can carry CFT, not just the last batch.
habu2
PX III were "plain" Block 52s, PX IV were 52+ (plus). AFAIK the CFT capability was introduced on the "plus" blocks, which included beefed up landing gear (note bulge in nose gear roof / inlet floor to clear larger nose gear) to handle the additional weight of laden CFTs. This is also why USAF has no CFT-capable birds in active units as USAF never got any "plus" jets.
pollie
Greece only received the Block 52+, not the vanilla 52. The Greeks state the Xenia IV jets are Block 52+ with 'advanced electronics' (so essentially a Block 52++ ?) Everybody will be familiar with the colorful jet of the Zeus demoteam. That is a Peace Xenia III jet and does carry CFTs. Here is their spare jet, also Peace Xenia III: https://www.airplane-pictures.net/photo/882744/511-greece-hellenic-air-force-general-dynamics-f-16c-block-52-fighting-falcon/
